Language, Newspaper, Magazine, and Travel

Do you read a lot? You must read a lot if you read even my blog. When I travel I try to read more. I try to gather information from books, just like you would do, and I also try to read local news as well as some novels. Usually when you travel, it means you are off to the holiday or you are enjoying something. Therefore, you will read what you would like to read.
I realized this same habit from my father. He bought some newspaper from Thailand, of course, in Thai language. Well, he doesn't speak Thai, neither my mother. So, why did he bring it? He is just curious about local newspapers. I am the same way. Like father, like daughter. I love collecting all these exotic newspapers or magazines from other countries. When I lived in Australia, I used to scrap the Age on my scrap book, now I am reading the Irish Times, I read El Pais, even though I didn't go to Spain, because of so many Spanish friends here in Cork! Recently, I found a magazine called 'muy interesante'. Well, it is quite interesting to read this magazine, but I am not so sure about 'muy' part.
Anyway, since I love looking at all the different languages at home, I might collect more newspaper or magazine in different languages. You might look up some phrase books before you leave for your holiday destination, but I look up these phrase books everyday to learn different languages. I just love learning new words, new sounds, new meanings, because it just gives me very similar feeling like traveling.
